Pallet Art: Small "Astro" Kinetic Cabinet

These whimsical wooden cabinets, a perfect size to tuck into the corner of baby's room, a bathroom, or a summer cottage, started their lives as wooden shipping pallets. Mark Dabelstein, the Vermont-based artist who creates them, began transforming discarded pallets into art in 1998, lucky for us. When the door of the Astro cabinet is opened, the swinging moon and star cutouts dance in the cabinet door as though they are twinkling in a clear night sky. The paint is organic and non-toxic, so even if little hands are tempted to reach for the stars, the big people will have nothing to worry about.
